Anamnesis

the adventures of a student nurse

My Diagnosis:

super nurse

Nursing is a field that is expanding very fast, with research deepening and interventions being discovered continuously.

I present here a look at the clinical world through the eyes of a Nursing student in Helsinki, Finland.
Currently surviving the third year in my Nursing education, I found this world of learning, medicine, hospitals and patients far too interesting to keep quiet about, and am therefore compelled to share my experiences with anyone who is even vaguely interested (fear not, I have the deepest respect for confidentiality laws).

10 things Concerning myself:

1) I am a Christian, saved by grace.

2) I am a human being of northern European origin who was born and raised in Africa.

3) I have been operated on thrice in my lifetime, as a baby my eardrums were drilled into, at 7 my sinuses were operated on and at 11 my appendix was removed due to acute appendicitis.

4)I have been hospitalised once because of a bee sting to my eyelid, the bee flew right out of nowhere straight into my eye. Since then I react post-traumatically with facial twitching whenever I see a bee.

5) I went to a special high school for special kids, the national school of the arts in South Africa, where I specialised in pottery and painting. To this day one may still find me doodling aimlessly on just about any drawable surface.

6) I have studied music since I was 6, and currently I enjoy singing and playing all sorts of, baroque, gospel and messianic music with my friends.

7) I have no phobias or other disorders, but some, especially my teachers would perhaps describe my personality hypomanic (bipolar II), though as of yet, I roam around freely and undiagnosed.

8)I cannot take it if people yawn into my face. Its the same as blowing into a dog’s face. Don’t try it.

9)Laughing makes me high. And just about any arbitrary thing can excite me.

10)People either describe me as conscientious, or oversensitive. I would describe myself as a sensitive, eccentric perfectionist.

In closing, I hope that the information I publish here would nevertheless deem useful to other aspiring nurses, or anyone who is keen on learning more about nursing or health and medicine sciences.

With sincere regards,

Anja Smith.

P.s. The health tips I publish here should always be taken with a pinch of salt (not taken seriously) and I usually make sure that the health tip itself is impossible to apply medically. I am in no position to give any advice on medicine or health, and if I publish information as such, it is always taken directly from trusted sources. I would still encourage readers to appreciate my humour rather than my genius (narcissism not intended).
