Scrubs!

When it comes to choosing for some good me time in front of my laptop (poor students like me don’t have televisions), there are a huge range of different shows that I can indulge. A few of my favorites (that term I only use if I so happen to experience severe withdrawal symptoms upon the realization that the last episode of the last possible season has been watched) would be the following: Jeeves and Wooster (I was heart broken to find out that there script material was limited to a few books), Keeping up appearances (I can do the perfect Hyacinth, to the horror of my poor friends), Macguyver, Blackadder, Top Gear, Ben Casey (most of it is very cheesy…but I just can’t help myself), A bit if Fry and Laurie, and I have to admit, Fraser used to be a pleasure to watch. And now I am proud to announce a latest addition to my scrawny list: SCRUBS!

After a 46 hour week, I could not help myself in any other way than watching two full seasons of scrubs. yep, they are addictive. What is brilliant is that they are not pretentious like grey’s anatomy or house (though I prefer house to grey’s, laurie can bat out the silly skits of those overly hormonal surgeons in one glorious swoop, because he is British), though I know that is not right…They are pretentious, they know it, we know it and we embrace it together. And they poke fun and just about anything, even house and grey’s! If you were to look at my list of shows at the top, you won’t find many that are produced in america, but this one I have to admit, they finally got right.

Being a half nurse*, and a perpetual day dreamer, I find comfort that the soothing sarcasm of Cox’s rants is like music to my ears, JD’s insecurity is very sweet, I sort of identify with elliot (not her slutty side), and carla as a nurse just rocks, and turk just plain rocks!

Other than tilting my head to the left and letting my thoughts soar like an eagle, I have found that a lot more than day dreaming about hospital musicals can be applied to my experiences at the hospital… Well, right now I can’t think of anything so I’ll go back to the musical theme. As a trained musician, and artist, and appreciator of theatre and musical theatre, any fool can see why I + Scrubs cause an interaction that is beyond any therapeutic level. It just wants me to say AAAAaaaaahhh, with a slight sigh at the end. And there are no proven side effects other than dependence.

So, in Conclusion, if there would be any recreational drug I would ever recommend, it would have to be Undiluted Scrubs.

Cheers.

Health Tip: Asystole cannot be defibrillated.

*Since I have still one year to go in my studies, but enough ects’s to legally work as a registered nurse in Finland, I am under no circumstances allowed to call myself a nurse until I have my papers…So I came up with a quick and easy term to avoid the huge mouthful of ‘Student Nurse’ (in finnish: Sairaanhoitajaopiskeljia!)…Though I usually end up explaining my newly coined term with an essay of about the same length as this one…
